ABOUT OUR FIRM
It was May 17, 1972. My family was singing "Happy Birthday" to me. I was twelve (12) years old, and my seventh grade year was drawing to a close. My oldest brother Joseph had just been accepted into Medical School, and all was festive. Before I could blow out the candles on my birthday cake, everyone continued to ask the same question. "What do you want to be when you grow up Michael ?" I then set out to answer that question in my own mind in the following days and weeks.
After as much soul searching as a twelve-year old can do, I began my research through the library, career guides, and speaking to guidance counselors at our local High School. They all told me to look at every single occupation in America and learn as much as you could about the wages and the skills necessary to perform these occupations. It became apparent that, after my research, I didn't want to do any of the jobs that I had discovered.
My search continued over that summer and into the fall. To digress in this story, our family was from meager means. Okay we were poor... but not Jerry Springer poor. Our family values were quite simple; Respect others, aspire for the best, study hard in school, and to honor our Mother and Father. Equipped with these qualities, and the hunger of never being poor again, the decision finally came to me. When the next person asked me what I wanted to be, I was finally ready with an answer.
Sure enough, my Dad and I were watching a basketball game. He leaned over to me and asked me, "Son what do you think?" "About what Dad ?," I asked. "Do you know what you want to be when you grow-up,?" he remarked. I smiled and said, "a lawyer Dad." He laughed and replied, "That is what I think is best for you too Son."
From that day forward, our family supported that decision. Together, my family and I created the Law Offices of Michael Anthony Emma, P.C. Of course, it did not come to fruition overnight. In fact, it took eighteen and a half (18 ½) years. One must believe that a dream is worth its' weight in gold. Although my Dad passed away midway through Law School, he knew I would finish my dream with my Mom supporting me all the way as a co-captain.
It is from that simple research, and dream, that the Law Offices of Michael Emma was founded. To help every person that requires our legal representation is our goal. People might not have enough money for high price retainers, or high price law firms, but they still deserve legal assistance to help their cause become a reality. If there is one thing that my family taught me, it is that you never judge a person by the size of their wallet. It is our creed to review all clients' needs, problems, situations, circumstances, and then apply the law to make sure that our clients interests' are put forth and protected.
Since, June 11, 1990, we have represented literally thousands of victims. Some cases were automobile accidents and motor vehicle accidents, sometime resulting the death of a loved one.
